Full-length informal view of Max Miller, U. S. Air Mail pilot no. 1, standing beside the right rudder of the Standard JR-1B. It was in this plane that he completed the first air mail flight from Belmont Park, NY to Chicago in late August 1918. His flight time was 13 hr., 57 min., his elapsed time 24 hr., 37 min.
