This object is on display in the Apollo to the Moon exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.

Collection Item Summary:

This valve stem is part of the contingency feeding system established in the event of a spacecraft emergency. During such an emergency, the astronauts would be in their spacesuits, and therefore unable to eat solid food. This valve would enable them to drink liquids through the emergency feed port in their helmets.
