This is an example of a Type B-3 flying helmet issued the United States Army Air Corps. The Air Corp classified a summer helmet with an "A" and a winter helmet with a "B" designation. The Type B-3 flying helmet was used longer than anyother winter flying helmet by the U.S. Army Air Corp. It was standardized on August 2, 1925 and finally declared obsolete on March 31, 1944.
