This model of the Apollo Lunar Module incorporates an engineering model of the descent stage (MSFC 76545) with an ascent stage fabricated later for exhibit. The descent stage was used at the Marshall Space Flight Center by designers of the Lunar Rover for studies and fit checks of the J-series of Lunar Modules, the extended stay vehicle used on Apollo 15, 16, and 17. It carried the Lunar Roving Vehicle in the bay next to the descent ladder.

This Lunar Module mockup was transferred from NASA to the Smithsonian Institution in 1975.
