Human inspiration for flight came from a lot of places, including animals! While animals fly for different reasons than our own, there are similarities in the mechanics and forces we both use to achieve flight. This episode of our educational webcast series STEM in 30 will look at the four animal groups that achieved flight that inspired the fifth (humans!) to develop the ability to take to the skies for ourselves.

The episode will premiere on the National Air and Space Museum YouTube channel on December 2, 2021.

STEM in 30 is the National Air and Space Museum’s Emmy-nominated webcast series for middle school students. Tune in every month to share the fascination of aviation and space with your students.
