Join Matthew Hersch, assistant professor in the department of History of Science at Harvard University, to learn about the challenges humans will face when traveling to, and living on, Mars, hear some proposals for one-way trips by intrepid colonizers, and place their voyages in the context of humanity’s long tradition of exploring new worlds.

Meet at the Welcome Center in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall on the first floor.

About the Ask an Expert lecture series: Every Wednesday at noon in the National Mall Building, a Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.
