For the first time in over 20 years, the Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis has been lowered to the floor, presenting a unique opportunity for Museum visitors to get a closer look at the plane Charles Lindbergh used to complete the first solo transatlantic flight. Join curator Bob van der Linden as he uses this opportunity to talk about Charles Lindbergh and the Spirit of St. Louis.

Meet at the Museum "Great Seal", in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall on the first floor.

About the Ask an Expert lecture series: Every Wednesday at noon in the National Mall Building, a Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.

The Spirit of St. Louis was lowered January 14, 2015 as part of the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall renovation. Visitors can observe the museum’s conservation staff while they clean and preserve the artifact.
