Museum in Washington, DC

Do you want a car that drives itself? Join Carlene Stephens, curator in the Division of Work and Industry at the National Museum of American History and co-curator of the National Air and Space Museum's Time and Navigation exhibition, as she describes how the Smithsonian acquired a robot car nicknamed "Stanley," and how it came to park in the Time and Navigation exhibition.

Meet at the Museum's "Great Seal," in front of the Welcome Center, in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall on the first floor.

Can't make it to the talk? Read Carlene Stephens's blog post from the AirSpace blog about Stanley's journey to the Museum.

About the Ask an Expert lecture series: Every Wednesday at noon in the National Mall Building, a Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.
