Exploring the Planets

Mission to Jupiter: Juno

Juno Mission to Jupiter

Launch: August 5, 2011
Arrival at Jupiter: July, 2016

Juno is solar-powered and has three huge solar panels, each 29.5 ft. (9 meters) long, in order to operate so far from the Sun. In its one-year mission at the planet, it will study the core, magnetosphere, atmosphere, and auroras to better understand how Jupiter formed, what its structure is, and what processes are active there.
