December 9, 2003 was "Salute to Military Aviation Veterans" day, a special preview of the new air and space museum. The colors were presented by a military color guard and a welcoming and appreciation speech was given by General Richard Myers, USAF, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
