Catharine A. Kualii, Associate Director for Management and Public Programs, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is responsible for the support functions of the organization, to include Human Resources, Finance, Health & Safety, Exhibit Production, Exhibit Design and Technologies, Visitor Services, Facilities and Education.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Kualii served as the Deputy Regional Commissioner for the General Services Administration, Public Buildings Service from 2004-2013 where she had responsibility for programs delivered in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington—managing a portfolio of 15.9 million rentable square feet in 577 owned and leased buildings, that generated $356 million in revenue. In addition Cathy directly oversaw the Divisions of Organizational Development, Budget and Finance, Acquisition, Emergency Management, Information Technology and Security.
Cathy also served as the Deputy Director of the Program Support Center, Department of Health & Human Services from 2001-2004. PSC was one of the first Working Capital Shared Services organizations serving over 31 federal agencies. Ms. Kualii led multiple re-engineering efforts across the Department, receiving Secretary Recognition. She spent over 19 years with the Department of Defense at the Defense Logistics Agency and the Naval Air Systems Command, first as a support contractor, accepting a federal position in 1990 as a Business and Finance Manager.
