    James S. Waugh, 56, joined FlightSafety International, Inc. as Director of Marketing in 1976. He became Vice President in 1979 and is a member of the senior management team.

    Jim is a commercial, multi-engine, and instrument rated pilot. Now retired, his father Captain James C. Waugh, was Pan American Airways Senior Vice President-Operations having spent a 42-year career with that airline.

    FlightSafety experienced significant growth during his tenure. In 1976, FSI operated 16 Learning Centers. He is/was responsible for developing the marketing and sales organization, advertising and communications programs,and government contract business. Revenues have grown approximately 31 times while Learning Centers now number over 40.

    A native of Huntington, West Virginia and raised in Miami, Florida, Jim Waugh graduated from the University of Florida in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. A ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate, he served in the United States Army Reserve, receiving an honorable discharge as captain.

    Jim Waugh was a member of the Board of Directors of FlightSafety Boeing, is a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Flight Safety Foundation, was a member of the Board of Directors of the NBAA, and is past Chairman of the NBAA's Associate Member Advisory Council where he chaired the Education Committee and led the initiative to develop the popular http://avkids.com website and programs and was the Secretary of the Wings Club in New York for 14 years. He served as Co-chairman of the Aviation Symposium at the Risk Insurance Management Society annual meetings for over ten years.

    He is married and lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he served two years as Commodore of The Belle Haven Club.
