    Wallace A. Coleman flew in World War I in the 135th Observation Squadron of the 4th Corps, U.S. Army Air Service. His squadron was the first to fly American made DH-4's. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and was credited with two kills. Both before and after the war he was a racing driver for Louis Chevrolet, and had the distinction of being the first driver killed while racing in the Pike's Peak run, on September 2, 1921.
