Richard B. Weeghman. 1929 - 2003. U.S. Air Force pilot, aviation magazine
writer I editor.
Graduated Yale University in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Architecture (plus one
year of graduate school at Yale in architecture) prior to entering the United Sates
Air Force and flying North America F-860 fighter iet aircraft. After a stint with the
Associated Press in Harrisburg, PA, and Philadelphia, he became an associate
editor for Flying magazine in New York City, editor of Air Progress magazine and
editor of Aviation Consumer magazine.
After retirement, he lived in Sarasota, FL, where he continued aviation interests
as a consultant and flying his Grumman American Tiger for pleasure and on
mercy missions with Angel Flight.
He died in October 2003 as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage. Weeghman is
survived by wife Diane, daughters Ann Harrell and Katherine King, and four
grandchildren.
