100 Years Since Robert H. Goddard's First Liquid Fueled Rocket
Goddard launched the first liquid fuel-rocket on March 16, 1926. Years earlier, the Smithsonian published his pamphlet A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes. In it he suggested that a solid-fuel rocket could reach the Moon.
