In 1946, the Bell Model 47 became the first civil helicopter in the world to gain commercial certification. Its marked stability led to its wide acceptance for a myriad of uses, including mail service and passenger transport.

Also included are two oversized black and white images of the National Air and Space Museum specimen Bell 47B.
