Richard Thompson (1957-2016) was an American illustrator and cartoonist best known for his syndicated comic strip Cul de Sac and the illustrated poem "Make the Pie Higher." Thompson's illustrations appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The New Yorker, Air & Space/Smithsonian, National Geographic,The Atlantic Monthly, and The Washington Post. He was given the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year for 2010.

This collection consists of a nine by twelve inch original color cartoon, entitled NASM Archives Bar Bet Hotline by Richard Thompson. The cartoon appeared in the December/January 1996 issue of Air & Space Magazine, accompanying the article written by Stan Solomon, "In the Museum: Funny You Should Ask."
