The Second Pan-American Aeronautic Convention, Exposition, and Aeronautic Contests took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey from May 1 to June 1, 1919, and featured contests for airplanes, seaplanes, dirigibles, kite balloons, and parachutes. This collection consists of an invitation card to that event.
The Second Pan-American Aeronautic Convention, Exposition, and Aeronautic Contests took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey from May 1 to June 1, 1919. The event was held under the auspices of the Aero Club of America, the Aerial League of America, and the Pan-American Aeronautic Federation, and featured contests for airplanes, seaplanes, dirigibles, kite balloons, and parachutes. Numerous sponsors put up cash prizes for aviators who could successfully make specific record flights. Several notable early aviators served as judges and in other administrative capacities for the event including Alan R. Hawley, Thomas S. Baldwin, Augustus Post, Earl L. "Ovie" Ovington, and Lawrence Burst Sperry.
