Poster, Advertising, Air Shows and Races, FETE DE L'OEUVRE DES LOYERS
Lithograph/Letterpress: Text and etching of balloon from which acrobats dangle; red, blue and black ink on paper lined with linen. The poster is composed of three separate elements. The balloon and basket was created by lithographer Vadot. The colored background was created by a poster-maker in Paris. As the Godards moved around Europe, local poster makers created exhibition-specific, detailed posters and used the Vadot lithograph to advertise the Godards. The acrobats in this poster are from another source, and the type and bands of color are unique to this particular exhibition.
