Print, Etching on Paper, Colored, ASCENSION DU SIEUR ADORNE À LA CITADELLE DE STRASBOURG 1784
Colored etching of a balloon ascending over a city in 1784. Pierre and Degarbiel built and flew this Montgolfier, the first to ascend from Strasbourg, May 26, 1784. The balloon stood 76 feet tall and 160 feet in circumference. The print is one of a set of illustrations orginally issued as part of a book titled "Balloons" by the Aeriel Press, 1956, England. The prints have plate marks, and were done by K.G. Lohse, Frankfurt Germany.
