Long, slender three-stage vehicle without fins throughout its length, the second stage of smaller diameter, joined to the first stage by a gradual truncated cone and ending with the third stage and payload on top. Nosecone with a sharp point. This construction was to afford the lowest airframe weight. First and second stage integral tanks are of aluminum w/riveted magnesium sheet skins. Second stage tanks are of stainless steel, aluminum frames and magnesium stringers and skin. Both first and second stages are of monocoque construction.
