Mgt. le Duc de Chartres et Mr. le Duc de Fitz James, December 1, 1793. The print depicts the landing of J.A.C. Charles and Marie Noel Robert at the conclusion of the first free flight of human beings aboard a hydrogen balloon. The pair remained aloft for two hours and traveled from the gardens of the Tuilleries to Nesle-la-Vallee near Hedouville. The Dukes of Chartres and Fitz James are signing a "Proces Verbal" confirming the success of the flight.
