Lunchbox, rectangular metal box with arched lid, red plastic horizontal carrying handle, and two clasps on front; decorated on outside with colored pictures of fanciful spaceships, wheeled (Von Braun type) space stations, and astronauts on a lunar base, background, mainly sky blue. Thermos inside, 8 ounce size, fits into thermos container clamp, although thermos is of a different vintage (1963 compared with 1960 for the launchbox) and different subject matter of decoration; decorated with various scenes of a stylized Project Mercury spacecraft, Atlas-Mercury launch vehicle, and Mercury capsule reentry; background of darker blue than lunchbox. Note that thermos, manufactured by the same company who made the lunchbox, is still of the size required for the lunchbox and fits snugly.
