This Apollo A7-L spacesuit is in the EV (extra-vehicular) configuration and was worn by "Rusty" Schweickart, lunar module pilot on the March 1969 Apollo 9 mission.
The activities scheduled for this mission included the testing of the Lunar Extra-Vehicular Activity (LEVA) spacesuit and Portable Life Support System (PLSS) during an EVA (extra-vehicular activity) from the lunar module (LM). The success of these tests led to the use of these configurations in later missions.
Transferred from NASA - Manned Spacecraft Center in 1973.
