Log books 1, 2, and 3 are not found in this collection; it is assumed that they were destroyed in September 1928 when a severe hurricane hit San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Rowe was living at the time. Rowe writes, "The Palace Hotel, which I called home, lost its roof, and along with it went all my logbooks, pictures, records, scrapbooks, and personal possessions." [Captain Basil L. Rowe, Under My Wings, The Bobbs-Merrill Company, Inc. (New York), 1956, pages 117-118.]
