Physical Description Archival Pigment Print - 22" x 28" The art is based on fantasies of flight and are strong representation of surrealist art. The art combines the Forman’s illustrative and photographic skill, illusion, assemblage, the non-human world, and the dislocations of time and place. Artist’s Statement: “We all dream of flying. Some of us dream of airplanes, some hot air balloons, but anything that will bear us aloft – a butterfly, a bird, suspenders, an armillary sphere – can spark that universal longing for freedom or release…. Whether we are being carried aloft by a bird, a balloon or a biplane, flight demonstrates that impossible is possible…” The artist Fran Forman is a leader in montage photographic art, holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art, is a resident scholar at Brandeis University, and teaches digital collage at the School of the Museum School of Fine Arts (Boston), at Brandeis University, and at workshops across the U.S. Forman’s work has been exhibited internationally and she is the recipient of numerous grants and awards.
