Balloon, Tissue Paper
Physical Description
Blue and white tissue paper balloon.
Documentation that came with the balloon states that it was used to send messages during the siege of Paris in the Franco Prussian War, 1870-1871. However, the balloon lacks signs of use (scorching, dirt, etc.) and this type of balloon does not achieve the altitudes that would have been necessary for delivering messages out of Paris.
