This makeup base, or foundation, came to the Museum from NASA in a travel kit designed to hold cosmetic products that a female astronaut might want to take on her Space Shuttle mission. The kit had pockets and elastic bands to hold a variety of her chosen items. Some women astronauts chose to use makeup in space and others decided not to bother with it.
