Physical Description
Ivory snuff box with painted scene of a Blanchard hydrogen balloon ascent in 1784 inset into the lid. Scene is painted on ivory and under glass in a copper alloy frame. Reverse of the painting is lined in textile. Paper note identifying the scene is glued to the interior of the box.
