Type ART-Miscellaneous Medium Box, Snuff Physical Description Ivory snuff box with painted scene of a Blanchard hydrogen balloon ascent in 1784 inset into the lid. Scene is painted on ivory and under glass in a copper alloy frame. Reverse of the painting is lined in textile. Paper note identifying the scene is glued to the interior of the box. Dimensions Overall (dia. x depth): 6 × 2.5cm (2 3/8 × 1 in.)
