This is a camera body manufactured for the Gemini program by the J.A. Maurer company. Maurer 70mm cameras were used at the end of the program for extensive scientific photography experiments. These cameras were not as well regarded for their quality as Hasselblad cameras carried on every NASA mission from the end of the Mercury program until NASA's conversion to digital cameras in the early 2000s.
NASA transferred this spare camera body to the Museum in 1971.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
