This is an RCA portable TV camera. The inclusion of a TV camera on the Apollo missions was controversial from the outset. The major purpose was to share Apollo experiences with audiences on Earth. Some within NASA, however, saw little engineering or scientific value in taking these cameras on spaceflights as they took up space and weight aboard the spacecraft. Viewers across the globe won out and the cameras were used on successive Apollo lunar missions for on-board telecasts.

NASA transferred this camera to the Museum in 1973.
