Food for spaceflight must be nutritious, lightweight, and easily stored. As astronauts and cosmonauts spend increasing amounts of time in space, the food must also be appealing. This is a can of processed chicken, similar to the kind that Soviet cosmonauts have eaten while in space. This can of chicken contains a single serving of chicken and can be eaten without shedding crumbs in the spacecraft.

Dr. Paul Campbell donated this can to the Museum in 1970.
