This is an example of a khaki summer service coat worn by a United States naval officer.

This coat was worn by the donor Commander Josesph Benn at the end of his career. Benn entered the U.S. Navy in 1946. He served as a carrier pilot during the Korean War flying Douglas A-1 Skyraiders with Attack Squadron VA-75 off of the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard, CVA-31.
