This Apollo 11 commemorative coin is one of thirteen Apollo program commemorative coins displayed in a leather album. The Peoples National Bank of New Jersey commissioned The Franklin Mint to create seventy-five sets in total, and each of the Apollo program astronauts received one. The first coin commemorates the unmanned, suborbital SA-201 mission in February 1966, while the last commemorates the Apollo 12 mission. Apollo 11 flew from July 16-24, 1969, and was the first manned lunar landing. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin Aldrin, Jr. were the astronauts. There were six subsequent Apollo missions (Apollo 12 through 17), five of which successfully landed men on the moon.
