The Skylab 3 Command and Service Modules (CSM 117) were launched on July 28, 1973, for the second manned Skylab visit. On board were astronauts Alan L. Bean, Jack R. Lousma, and Owen K. Garriott. The crew remained on-board Skylab for 59 days and returned to Earth in the Command Module on September 25, 1973. Highlights of the mission included continued maintenance of the space station and extensive scientific and medical experiments. They completed 1,081 hours of solar and Earth experiments and three EVAs totalling 13 hours, 43 minutes.
NASA transferred the Skylab 3 Command Module to the Smithsonian Institution in 1977.
