This device contained some of the electronic components associated with the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems of the Apollo Command Module. The Apollo spacecraft carried several gyroscopes and accelerometers, the data from which was combined with other sources to give the craft's position and velocity in space as it travled from the Earth to the Moon and back. This unit, probably unflown, controlled those devices.
NASA transferred this unit to the Smithsonian in 1993.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
