These packages of lubricant, sanitizer and anti-fog wipes were returned from the first Space Shuttle mission, STS-1 (Columbia), in 1981. These items would normally be used to clean a spacesuit after a spacewalk. Although a spacesuit, or Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU), was not used on this mission, if it was stowed aboard for possible use, the suit maintenance kit also would have flown. There are also two pairs of silk comfort gloves to be worn inside the spacesuit gloves. NASA transferred these unused items to the Museum after the mission.
