Country of Origin France Type ART-Miscellaneous Medium Fan, Folding Physical Description Ornately decorated folding hand fan. Ivory sticks are carved and gilded with a floral motif. The textile leaf is hand painted with three scenes. The smaller side scenes show a boy and a girl. The large center scene depicts a balloon sitting in a field with people gathered around it. Each scene is bordered with sewn on sequins. A simple floral motif is drawn on the reverse with red ink. Large, clear stones are inset into the head of the fan. Dimensions Open: 27.9 × 50.2 × 2.5cm (11 in. × 19 3/4 in. × 1 in.)
