This film magazine was part of an Arriflex 16mm motion picture camera used on a number of Space Shuttle missions. The Arriflex 16mm SRII camera was the first compact high-quality motion picture camera used by astronauts. Its size and quality made it well-suited for use in space, until even smaller high-quality digital video cameras became available.

After switching to digital video for spaceflight, NASA transferred some no-longer-needed film camera equipment to the Museum in 2004.
