This is an example of a World War I 25mm caliber Mark IV Very pistol used by the United States. The pistol is a direct copy of a French army design and was made by Scott Fetzer Machine Co. of Cleveland Ohio. The Bureau of Aircraft Production transferred this particular pistol to the museum as part of the cockpit equipment for the deHavilland DH-4.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
