This is one part of the work station of Lockheed's Image Data Exploitation (IDEX) II system built to analyze digital imagery returned from photoreconnaissance satellites and aircraft. U.S. intelligence agencies utilized the system from 1991-2003. Prior to the introduction of IDEX I in 1981, all imagery from these sources was produced in film format and analyzed on light tables. The IDEX systems permitted the enhancement of imagery to achieve more complete and precise analyses.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency transferred this to the Museum in 2005.
