Physical Description
Uncolored etching of a diagram for a balloon. The balloon has large paddles for steering and a very large semi-hemispherical gondola with various pumps and valves to control the craft. Letters on the diagram correspond to the key below the image, which identifies the various parts in French. A second image on the right shows the Montgolfier animal balloon flown from Versailles, with the sheep and rooster visible in the cage.
