This Extra-Vehicular (EV) glove, designed by ILC Industries, is part of the pair made for astronaut Joe Engle and used during training sessions in his capacity as back-up Lunar Module Pilot during the Apollo missions.

The EV training gloves were identical to the gloves used on the Apollo missions and were constructed of an outer shell of Chromel-R fabric with thermal insulation to provide protection while handling extremely hot or cold objects. The blue fingertips were made of silicone rubber to provide sensitivity. The glove was attached to the spacesuit using the same anodized aluminium locking mechanism as was used with the intra-vehicular gloves.

Transferred to the National Air and Space Museum from NASA in 1985
