This is the right glove that Soviet cosmonaut Anatoli Levchenko wore during his launch and entry for his Soyuz TM- 4 mission to the space station Mir on 21- 29 December 1987. He returned to Earth on board the Soyuz TM-3 ferry craft. This was Levchenko's only mission into space. The glove was part of the Sokol KV-2 spacesuit that he wore as a rescue suit in case of an emergency during launch and entry. The gloves are designed from molded rubber, synthetic fabrics and aluminum to allow the cosmonauts manual dexterity to operate the spacecraft controls while the suit is pressurized.

E. Laverne Johnson donated this glove as part of a collection of Soviet human spaceflight artifacts in honor of her late partner and collector, Mr. Robin John Burrows.
