This is a gyroscope assembly that was manufactured by the AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors, and used in a variety of ballistic and guided missiles. A similar type of gyro was used in the Apollo program. The design of the gyro was probably done by the MIT Instrumentation laboratory, under the direction of Charles Stark Draper.
