This helmet was worn by astronaut Alan Shepard during training sessions prior to the Apollo 14 mission in January 1971.

The A7-L Lunar Extravehicular Visor Assembly was worn over the pressure helmet and fastened with a latch. During Extra Vehicular (EV) activities, it provided protection against micrometeoroid impact, heat, ultraviolet and infrared light. The helmet was constructed of a polycarbonate shell onto which the cover, visors, hinges, eyeshades and latch were attached. It had two visors, one covered with a thermal control coating and the other with a gold optical coating, and two side sunshields which could be raised and lowered independently.

It was transferred from NASA in 1975.
