This costume helmet was used in the sixth season of the television series, The Expanse (SyFy and Amazon Prime, 2015–2022). This helmet was worn by actress Frankie Adams during her depiction of Roberta ‘Bobbie’ W. Draper, a Martian marine in the MCRN (the fictional Martian Congressional Republic Navy). In the novels, Draper is a tall, physically-powerful Samoan woman, which is why Adams, who is also Samoan, felt strongly about taking the role. The helmet contains numerous design features to aid with filming the show and user comfort. Those include miniature fans, microphones, fabric-covered foam padding and magnet-enabled detatchable pieces.

The Expanse was based on a series of novels written under the pen name James S. A. Corey, a collaboration between Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, both of whom were writers for the television show.

Alcon Television Group donated the helmet to the National Air and Space Museum in 2021.
