This is an example of a standard issue Type LKpW101 winter flying helmet issued to Luftwaffe pilots and aircrew during World War II. The helmet was similar in size and shape to its summer cousin, the Type LKpS 100. Designed for cold winter use, it was constructed primarily from leather rather than linen.

There is no known operational use or history of this helmet.

This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
