This Gemini helmet was worn by astronaut Gordon Cooper during training sessions in the middle 1960s.

It is constructed of fiberglass and epoxy resin and was molded to fit directly into the neck ring disconnect of the spacesuit. A Plexiglas visor, capable of being raised for access, was attached with pivots which, when lowered into pressure sealing position, locked in place with a latch. Communication devices with suede-covered ear pads were incorporated into the helmet.

Transferred from NASA in 1970.
