This reproduction of the United States Navy Patrol Squadron 6's aircraft insignia was commissioned for the Smithsonian Institution through the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression.. They were originally on display in the aeronautical section of the Smithsonian "Tin Shed".
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
